are coming up ely. >> bill: stossel matters segment, when president obama took office, 32 million americans were on food stamps. now the number is 47 million. there are charges that the obama administration wants to get as many people as possible on the dole. >> when i think o reengage people in politics is we're doing serious policy work around what i will label working poor, they were struggling. and to the extent that we are doing research figuring out what kinds of government action will successfully make their lives better, we are putting together a potential majority of coalition that will vote. >> bill: we asked john stossel to investigate whether or not welfare work requirements are being watered down by the obama administration, perhaps for political reasons. here is stossel, the author of the big book "no." what did you find out? >> well, no, they can't cure poverty, but no, there is no real evidence that they're intentionally watering down the work standards. >> bill: why do conservatives feel that way? what is it about the dictum that the president gave the states that upset the

is closer to having a weapon. >> bill: is president obama weak or strong in protecting americans from the iranian nuclear threat? we'll hear both sides so you can decide. >> i want you to remember that the house they were standing in, the house my family has the privilege of living in, that house was built in part by slaves. >> bill: why is the first lady invoking images of slavery to make a point? we will tell you. >> we have a -- (bleep). >> bill: has madonna totally lost it? what the heck she talk being? we'll show you one of the most bizarre displays we've ever seen. caution, you are about to enter the no spin zone. "the factor" begins right now. >> bill: hi. i'm bill o'reilly. thank you for watching us tonight. is president obama protecting us against the danger from iran? that's the subject of this evening's talking points me mow. the campaign is heating up. the iranian minority ahmadinejab in new york today threatening jews and demeaning gay people. that's what the man does. ahmadinejab is also presiding over the building of a nuclear weapon. thus, the irrationality and aggress

, particularly the provision for detaining americans without due process, if obama had not signed that provision, i would be voting for obama as well. as fate would have it, i am going to be voting for gary johnson. that is all i have to say. host: back to the democratic line, betty, good morning. caller: good morning. thank you for your program. my comment, mitt romney is a businessman. he thinks business, he thinks capital gains, he thinks profits. our president is the president. he thinks about all the people, everything he has ever done, with his hands tied by congress, he tried to do for the people. although bomb -- all that mitt romney wants to do is be president. it is a joke to him. this country is not a joke. the world is not a joke. people are suffering. people have dreams and aspirations. our president is sworn to make our dreams come true. i feel like mitt romney and paul ryan, what they wanted to do as far as cutting social security, cutting the lunch programs for the poor kids -- sometimes that is the only thing they have to eat all day. host: words from betty there, from baltimore

>> the anti-american protests were raging across the middle east as a result. so what president obama did was, listen, the united states definitely approve of the video. but when we are talking about dma acy in the region, this is a part of that. >> the strongest weapon against hateful speech is not repression. it is more speech. the voices of tolerance that rally against bigotry and bl blasphemy. >> some of the leaders say we need to have some international law banning blasphemy and the anti-religious rhetoric. not just in their own countries where it exists but around the world. listen to the president, hamid karzai, talking about this subject. >> such acts cannot be called freedom of speech or explex. equally, they cannot give reason for the protests to be used inside the terrible losses of lives. >> what president obama did then was said, listen, if you want to have blasphemy be horrible, then you have to talk about a church being burned in israel and if the holocaust is -- this type of rhetoric is horrible but we all have to speak out about it. >> it highlights educational difference. ev

there is a difference. part of the philosophy of president obama is trying to get as many americans as possible dependent on government so that the democrats can stay in power in perpetuity. the reason i think that is failing is, even those americans, if you break down that 47%, there is a significant chunk of people, receiving social security, who have paid into it their entire life. that is very different from being dependent on welfare. that is a critical safety net our society has counted on that we need to insure remain strong for generations to come. even those who are receiving welfare right now, most americans do not want to stay dependent on government. they want to work for the american dream. they want to work to provide for themselves and their families. i think that is why the obama administration's objective is essentially using bread and circuses to make as many people as possible dependent on government, to keep voting democratic, is not succeeding. americans want to stand on their own feet. >> that is the craziest thing i ever heard of my life. you are accusing the president of

on american influence that would be really president down president obama? >> my basic thesis is that there's a tremendous agree -- degree of continuity of all presidents. we have already seen, and jessica and i have running discussion about this, which began probably around january 2009, but many people have been struck. "the new york times" rights abroad this, the continuity about obama and bush, for that matter. they only changed things 10 degrees one way or the other. there will be some issues. obviously, there's no question that romney takes a different view on how to deal with russia. on iran, it's harder call, for instance. maybe you're going to get to this eventually, -- >> we are only 25 minutes in. i consider it to be an on unreasonable possibility regardless of who is in the white house that the united states might end up engaging in military action with iran, what will that do to all of these consensuses about spending and whether american people are injected in foreign policy and issues like the defense budget? as issues like that and the ones we do not even know about that mak

high level of african american, latino and young people vote in 2012 that you had in 2008. >> obama campaign senior advisor david axel rod told fox "public polls are widely variant in their sampling and methodology so hard to make the case when they all point in one direction they are all wrong but we are planning for a close race as we always have." another democratic strategist offered this assessment. >> this thing can move back and forth three and four times between now and november 6. from romney you try to create that momentum and he still has time to do it. >> reporter: the average of comebacks was roughly 5% and in some cases it was the debate that move the needle. shannon? >>> ambassador are rice should resign but also we should investigate and find out how high up this went and i would hope that the administration itself would voluntarily come forward and say why they gave out this false information. >> shannon: democrats on the h hill and in the obama administration pushing back against a call from republican congressman st. petersburger ambassador are susan rice toor. re

be a $1,700 tax on american families, and that number comes from the obama administration. >> 30 seconds. >> let's stipulate we are not going to do cap and trade. senator fisher says human beings are not warming the planet, and i say we are. i say it is a compelling problem and we need to address it. we need to have a debate about how we are going to address it and what our strategy is going to be. otherwise, we are going to wonder why we did not do anything about it. >> a question for senator kerry. >> there is a lot of discussion about lowering tax rates by limiting deductions on loopholes, but one person's loophole is another person's deduction for mortgage interest or state and local taxes. would you favor eliminating or reducing any of those, or would you offer other specific changes? >> the big four are markets reductions, and i think you can scale it back. i think there is a great pay off through simplification. you have got to believe it. you have to believe simplification can generate more revenue. if it generates more revenue, you cannot do it. i think there is a huge pay off t

're seeing that reflected not just in president obama, but in the team that supports him. >> yeah. the way i like to put it is that president obama has the appeal of a reluctant warrior, which is what most americans are. if we have to go to war, we will. and he has shown that he will use force when it's necessary, but he's a reluctant warrior. reluctant warrior is still a warrior. other presidents, i think, have been eager warriors -- >> i would add the word "engaged." i think this president understands that in this world you need to be engaged, and he has engaged smartly. >> okay. next i want to introduce michele flournoy, she served as undersecretary of defense for policy from february '09 to february of this year. and prior to her confirmation, she helped lead president obama's transition team at the department of defense. in 2007 she cofounded the organization that doug just referred to, the nonpartisan think tank center for a new american security. republicans in states like virginia, notably, are using the impending sequesters as an issue against their democratic opponents. even though

and insufficiently appreciative of the benefits. barack obama is the candidate in 2008. said of the constitution it has worked pretty well for 200 years. among others things the complaisant assurance by the first african-american president requires overlooking a brutal civil war that lasted four years and killed 750,000 people. a war that i am sure many of you experience as having occurred between semesters, when the first semester of american history that you might have taken concluded in 1860 and picked up again perhaps in 1868 or 1877. this is the way american constitutional law is tops. it appears by magic in constitutional courses with literally almost no time spent on how we got either the thirteenth or the fourteenth amendment which is much closer to chairman mao's notion that howard including constitutional power grows out of the barrel of a gun than it could be understood simply in the model of the 1787 constitution that would suggest any amendments would come through a nice, calm and peaceful article 5 process where we deliberate on what would make us better and two thirds of congress
